
Yarmouk University President, Prof. Malek A. Alsharairi, met with Prof. Hassan Hasab Al-Nabi, Dean of the College of Business at Northern Kentucky University (USA), during his visit to Yarmouk University to explore potential avenues for future academic and research collaboration between the two institutions.
Prof. Alsharairi emphasized that strengthening academic and research partnerships with international universities is among Yarmouk University’s top priorities. He affirmed the university’s readiness to expand cooperation with Northern Kentucky University, particularly in the fields of business and economics.
He pointed to the possibility of formalizing this collaboration through a Memorandum of Understanding aimed at enhancing faculty exchange programs, which would deepen the exchange of expertise and knowledge between both sides. He also highlighted opportunities for student exchange programs, whether through twinning programs, dual-degree pathways, host-university arrangements, or short academic visits—allowing students to benefit from the academic offerings at both universities.
Prof. Alsharairi stressed the importance of introducing programs that develop students’ skills by enabling them to integrate courses from other disciplines into their primary field of study, enhancing their competitiveness in the global job market.
He also highlighted Yarmouk University’s Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation, which works to empower young people, foster creativity, and channel their potential toward innovation by supporting entrepreneurial ideas and establishing incubators. He noted the possibility of establishing a joint entrepreneurship initiative with Northern Kentucky University in this area.
For his part, Prof. Hasab Al-Nabi presented an overview of Northern Kentucky University, its faculties, academic programs across various degree levels, and its admission requirements for international students. He emphasized NKU’s interest in fostering international collaborations to enrich student diversity and highlighted the importance of partnering with a distinguished institution like Yarmouk University—particularly in the field of business—through a structured academic and research collaboration that contributes to advancing educational and research excellence at both universities.
He added that Northern Kentucky University places strong emphasis on entrepreneurship and innovation, offering multiple mechanisms to promote these concepts among students and the local community, in addition to its continued support for existing projects to ensure their sustainability and expand the culture of innovation within the student community.
