His Highness met with the presidents of Jordanian universities to discuss the importance of scientific research and the need to build stronger links between academia and the industrial sector.

His Highness Prince El Hassan bin Talal, President of the Higher Council for Science and Technology, visited Al-Hassan Industrial City and Yarmouk University in Irbid Governorate on Wednesday.
During the visit, His Highness also met with a number of industrial and academic leaders, emphasizing the importance of strengthening the integration between education, scientific research, and the industrial sector in supporting sustainable national development.
During his visit to Al-Hassan Industrial City, His Highness listened to a briefing on the latest developments and updates in the city, and was informed about its most prominent achievements in the fields of industry, investment, and employment.
In an open dialogue with specialists in the fields of industry, trade, and investment, alongside academics and business leaders, His Highness emphasized the necessity of connecting industrial companies with vocational training institutions and universities, in a way that contributes to the development of technical skills and enhances the efficiency of the workforce to serve the national economy.
His Highness also stressed the importance of creating job opportunities and promoting economic empowerment in a way that ensures increased productivity and keeps pace with global shifts from traditional work patterns to modern digital systems. He further called for enhancing the competitive advantage of the Al-Hassan Industrial City as a center for attracting investment and quality industrial production in the north of the Kingdom.
His Highness also recommended the necessity of continuing efforts to bridge the gap between the academic sector and industry, in a way that strengthens the national innovation system and ensures alignment between educational outcomes and the needs of the labor market.
During his visit to Yarmouk University, accompanied by Her Royal Highness Princess Sumaya bint El Hassan, His Highness Prince El Hassan also met with the presidents of Jordanian universities in a meeting dedicated to discussing two main topics: first, the importance of scientific research and bridging it with the industrial sector; and second, the ongoing preparations for the Youth and Renaissance Conference (Nahda) scheduled to take place next April.
Yarmouk University President, Professor Dr.Malek A. Alsharairi, expressed his appreciation for Their Highnesses’ visit to the university, praising the pioneering role played by His Highness Prince El Hassan in supporting the advancement of thought, science, and humanity.
He emphasized that His Highness Prince El Hassan has, throughout his long career, embodied a model of enlightened Hashemite thought, serving as a voice of reason and conscience and as a steadfast pillar in promoting the values of justice. He noted that His Highness has established intellectual, scientific, and youth platforms that have conveyed universal messages to the world, contributing to making Jordan a destination for leading thinkers and scholars from across the globe.
Alsharairi added that Yarmouk University, like all Jordanian higher education institutions, renews its commitment to the mission of knowledge, dialogue, and human development, and works to prepare an aware generation that carries the Hashemite message in serving the nation and humanity.
