Representing the President of Yarmouk University, the Dean of the Faculty of Sharia and Islamic Studies at the University, Dr. Muhammad Talafha, in the presence of the Dean of Student Affairs, Dr. Moatasem Shatnawi, sponsored the closing ceremony of the competition of the “Holy Quran Reciter for International Students for Recitation and Tajweed”, which was organized by the Student Welfare Department at the Deanship of Student Affairs and the Faculty of Sharia and Islamic studies.
The first place in the competition was won by the student Musab Omar from the Republic of Indonesia, the second place was won by the student Abdullah Al-Waked from Palestine, the third place was won by the student Rahma Fawzia from the Republic of Indonesia, the fourth place was won by the student Nathnun Madawg from Thailand, and the fifth place was won by the student Doaa Hassan Shata from the Arab Republic of Egypt. Al-Talafha handed over the prizes to winner students, offering them congratulations and blessings while expressing the Yarmouk’s pride in them. He also handed over certificates of participation and prizes to all students participating in the competition, wishing them success while stressing the University’s keenness to organize purposeful religious events and activities throughout the academic year.
The students expressed their thanks and appreciation of the University for giving them the opportunity to participate in this valuable competition, acknowledging the efforts of those in charge of it in the Deanship and Faculty.
The ceremony came as a continuation of the competition activities recently launched by the Student Welfare Department through the International Student Welfare Department, in cooperation with the Faculty of Sharia and Islamic Studies, with the participation of 23 male and female students from various Arab and international communities studying at Yarmouk. The jury from the Faculty included the supervisor of the Holy Quran program, Dr. Nadhir Al-Sharayri and Dr. Ayman Shatnawi from the Faculty of Sharia and Islamic Studies.
The Director of the Student Welfare Department at the Deanship of Student Affairs, Muhammad Al-Saad, said that this competition is the first of its kind at the university level, and its organization is a translation of the Deanship of Student Affairs’ keenness to achieve the University’s vision for creating an interactive university environment that works to activate the participation of international students in various events and purposeful extracurricular activities implemented by the Deanship and the University.
