The President of Yarmouk University, Professor Islam Massad, received a delegation from the Malaysian University of Bhang, UCYP, which included the director of the Arabic Language Development Center, Dr. Ahmed bin Muhammad Din, and the Arabic language teacher, Mr. Kamal Al-Aqrabi, to discuss ways of enhancing the existing academic cooperation between the two sides in the field of Sharia and Islamic and Arabic language studies. At the beginning of the meeting, Massad stressed Yarmouk’s keenness to network and cooperate with various educational institutions and universities to develop the educational and research process and to exchange experiences and knowledge, which may reflect positively on the scientific and cultural level of the University’s faculty members and students. He then praised the academic relations existing between Yarmouk and the UCYP under which Yarmouk accepts Malaysian students to join the majors of Sharia, Islamic Studies, and the Arabic language. He added that Yarmouk’s Language Center offers the Arabic language program for non-native speakers, which annually receives many students from different countries, pointing out that the Center has developed this program to include nine levels classified according to the American ACTFL and CEFR standards.

In return, the members of the delegation appreciated the attention paid by Yarmouk to its Malaysian students, praising the distinguished scientific reputation of Yarmouk University at the regional level and the extent of the excellence of its Malaysian student graduates who have proven their worth and competence in various positions in Malaysia. They also stressed the keenness of the UCYP to send more students to continue their studies at Yarmouk University for its excellence in offering specializations in Islamic studies and the Arabic language, calling for expanding the network of this cooperation to include more specializations that may attract more Malaysian students.

The Refugees, Displaced Persons and Forced Migration Studies Center at Yarmouk University, in cooperation with the World University Service Association of Canada - Jordan Office / WUSC organized a meeting entitled “Journey of Hope” with the Syrian refugee Hassan Al-Kontar, a volunteer in the association.

At the beginning of the meeting, the director of the Center, Dr. Ruba Al-Akash, stressed the Center’s constant endeavor to organize and hold meetings that represent success stories and motivation for young people in setting future plans. Al-Akash added that hosting Hassan Al-Kontar and talking about his experience in the refugee journey is considered one of the realistic, positive and inspiring examples for young people.

While Al-Kontar expressed his thanks to Jordan for what it provided to refugees of various nationalities and its Arab role in supporting civilians against the difficult circumstances they encounter in their homelands, praising the role of Yarmouk University, represented by the Refugee Center in organizing this activity and meeting with a group of University youth. However, during his presentation of his experience, he emphasized the importance of determination and knowledge in dealing with difficulties and challenges faced by young people at all stages, stating that the tools and personal skills an individual possesses make him closer to achieving his goals.

At the end of the meeting, which was attended by a group of members of the academic and administrative bodies, University students, and a number of partners in the International University Service Association in Canada - Jordan Office, some experiences were shared by the audience and a discussion was held about Al-Kontar’s case.

The President of Yarmouk University, Professor Islam Massad, met with the Bahraini cultural advisor in Amman, Marwa Al-Jassim, in the Bahraini attaché building in Amman to discuss ways of enhancing cooperation between the two sides in various scientific fields and other issues related to Bahraini students studying at Yarmouk.

During the meeting, Massad stressed Yarmouk’s keenness to follow up on its international students, to give them the utmost care, and to encourage them to join the student body at the University in a way that contributes to enriching cultural and civilizational diversity among students on campus. He also expressed the University's readiness to receive more Bahraini students wishing to study at the University at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels, stressing that Yarmouk offers several new qualitative specializations that keep pace with the needs of the local, regional, and international labor market.

In her turn, Al-Jassim praised the academic and scientific level of Yarmouk University, the distinguished academic reputation it enjoys in the State of Bahrain, and the distinction of its qualitative academic programs at the regional level. She also appreciated the great care and attention that Yarmouk University provides for its Bahraini students and its permanent cooperation with the Bahraini attaché in all issues related to Bahraini students, stressing the attaché’s keenness to strengthen such cooperation.

The Vice President of Yarmouk University for Planning, Development, Scientific Research and Quality Affairs, Professor Samer Samarah, received a delegation from Beirut Arab University (BAU), which included the University President, Dr. Wael Abdel Salam, and the University Secretary-General, Dr. Omar Houri, in the presence of the University’s Assistant President - Director of the Human Resources Department, Dr. Ziad Zuraikat. Samarah expressed Yarmouk University’s keenness and interest in expanding its network of relations with various Arab and international universities, praising the well-known academic and historical reputation of Beirut Arab University in the Jordanian society. He then talked about Yarmouk’s history, faculties, and academic programs at the undergraduate and graduate levels, in addition to its scientific centers and their significance in the field of scientific research and community service. Samarah pointed out that Yarmouk University is keen, in accordance with its strategic plan and vision, to strengthen its position and academic presence with regard to international classifications, mentioning that the University obtained a Five-Star certificate from QS besides achieving a considerable advancement in the Times World University Rankings in Asia for 2023. For his part, Abdel Salam stressed the aspiration of Beirut Arab University to deepen its relations with one of the prestigious Jordanian and Arab universities, such as Yarmouk University known for its academic originality, academic status, quality of outputs, and pioneering roles in education, scientific research, and community service.

The President of Yarmouk University, Professor Islam Massad, met with the Vice President of the Turkish University of Pamukkale, Dr. Durmuş Akalın, to discuss ways of academic and research cooperation concerning exchanging students and faculty members between the two universities within the framework of the European Erasmus Plus Program.

During the meeting, Massad confirmed that Yarmouk University seeks to enhance its scientific, academic, and research cooperation with various Turkish universities, noting that during the Jordanian-Turkish Higher Education Forum held recently, it was agreed to increase the rate of student and faculty exchange between Jordanian and Turkish universities. He then pointed out that signing an agreement with the Turkish University of Pamukkale will provide the opportunity for Yarmouk students from different majors to visit Pamukkale University, which will reflect positively on their knowledge and experience on the one hand, and expand their awareness and enhance their knowledge, on the other hand.

 In return, Akalin praised the distinguished reputation of Yarmouk University and the diversity and comprehensiveness it enjoys by offering medical, scientific, and humanitarian specializations, which makes it an attractive environment for students from different countries, stressing that signing an agreement with Yarmouk contextualizes cooperation between the two sides in the field of student exchange in various specializations. He then reviewed the establishment of the Turkish University of Pamukkale, which was founded in 1992 offering various specializations in various fields for undergraduate and postgraduate degrees.

Eventually, a cooperation agreement was signed, considering that the agreement stipulates student exchange between the Turkish universities of Pamukkale and Yarmouk in various engineering specializations, medicine, nursing, literature, political science, English language, chemistry, life sciences, physics, Islamic studies, law, and the specializations of the Faculty of Business.

The University’s Vice President for Academic Affairs, Professor Mousa Rababah, sponsored the graduation ceremony of 29 participants in the 60-hour training course called “Arabic Program for Speakers of Other Languages”, which was organized by Queen Rania Center for Jordanian Studies and Community Service in cooperation with the Language Center. Rababah talked about the importance of joining such training courses as they prepare competent specialists qualified in teaching the Arabic language to non-native speakers, which expands the circle of interest in Arabic as a language, science, civilization, and culture. He also pointed out the interest of the University administration in developing the Language Center and modernizing its infrastructure and technology to enable it to perform its tasks including spreading the Arabic language for non-native speakers. Moreover, ​Rababah appreciated the role played by Queen Rania Center in serving the Jordanian community through the various training programs it offers in cooperation with the University’s faculties and various units.

The Director of the Queen Rania Center for Jordanian Studies and Community Service, Dr. Abdel Basset Athamneh, praised the work of the course lecturers who made utmost efforts in refining the skills and knowledge of participants. For her part, Dr. Hala Al-Hamad, from the Language Center, stressed the necessity of training specialists to teach Arabic to non-native speakers, praising the University administration’s support of such training courses and the high commitment shown by participants. However, at the end of the graduation ceremony, Rababah handed over certificates to the course participants.

The Language Center at Yarmouk University hosted the first activity of the French Traveling Institute ( IFJ Nomade ) in the northern region, which was organized by the Center in cooperation with the French Institute in Amman as part of the Francophonie Week activities, in the presence of the Center Director, Dr. Rana Qandil, the Director of Quality and Diversity at the French Institute, Clara Guillet, and the Professor of French at the Institute, Dr. Ahmed Mousa, and the theater professor, Lolita Barer.

This event is considered the first activity of the IFJ Nomade Institute in Jordan and the first of its kind in the northern region. The activity included a number of French cultural and linguistic activities directed towards French-speaking university students, including the forum, the digital library, theatre, social games, and cultural performances centered around the French language and culture.

Qandil stressed Yarmouk University’s keenness to annually celebrate the Francophonie Week by holding many cultural, linguistic, and entertainment events in the French language, with the aim of enhancing students’ linguistic skills, improving their level of proficiency in the French language and introducing them to the French culture and civilization and motivating them to participate in the activities offered by the French Institute in Amman, which contribute to refining their personalities, developing their skills and expanding their awareness. She also expressed her thanks to the French Institute and the French Embassy in Amman for their progressive support of such activities that are full of creativity, diversity and innovation, stressing the importance of strengthening the existing partnership between Yarmouk, the French Institute in Amman and the French Embassy, especially in the field of the French language.

Yarmouk University participated in the activities of the Q8 EDUEX International Exhibition for Higher Education, which took place in Kuwait and lasted for two days. The university participated in the exhibition through a special pavilion made at the University with the aim of introducing Yarmouk and its development and progress in international classifications, in addition to introducing its academic programs at various degrees.

The University President, Professor Islam Massad, said that Yarmouk’s participation in such international exhibitions is part of a series of activities and marketing methods deployed by the University to introduce Arab and international countries to the great developments made by Yarmouk University in various fields. He then pointed out that such participation in international higher education exhibitions contributes to attracting international students to study at the University, which enhances cultural diversity and civilizational exchange among students, thus positively impacting the University’s status in international rankings of universities

Interestingly, beside Yarmouk, the Jordanian Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, the University of Jordan, Jordan University of Science and Technology, and Princess Sumaya University of Science and Technology participated in the exhibition. Thus, the Jordanian ambassador in Kuwait, Sinan Al-Majali, visited the exhibition and inspected the participating Jordanian pavilions, where the head of the advertising and marketing department at Yarmouk, Shatha Saadoun, gave a briefing on the importance of unifying national efforts to represent Jordan abroad.

The Vice President of Yarmouk University for Academic Affairs, Professor Mousa Rababah, discussed with the Director of the Regional Office for the Middle East at the Francophone University Agency, Dr. Jean-Noel Baleo, ways to develop cooperation between Yarmouk and the Agency in various academic and research fields, in the presence of the Vice President of the University for Planning, Development, and Research Affairs, Professor Samer Samarah.

R​ababah pointed to the academic and research cooperation relations that Yarmouk has with universities in Francophone countries, stressing that Yarmouk University offers a French language program, a French-English program, and some language packages that include the French language aiming at enhancing students’ language skills and increasing their efficiency and ability to compete in regional and international labor markets. He then mentioned the importance of strengthening cooperation with the Agency through student and faculty exchange programs, pointing out the possibility of conducting joint scientific research and benefiting from scientific projects supported by the agency or the European Union.

Likewise, Samarah pointed out that Yarmouk University pays careful attention to the file of international accreditation and quality assurance for its various programs, which reflects positively on the scientific reputation and academic level of Yarmouk among its counterparts locally, regionally, and internationally. He also called on the officials of the Agency to extend bridges of research cooperation between Yarmouk and its various member universities so that faculty members and researchers can conduct scientific research and implement joint research projects in the scientific, health, humanitarian, and technological fields.

In return, Baleo explained that the Francophone University Agency (AUF) is an organization established in 1989 including branch offices spread throughout various countries across the world. Such offices, Baleo stated, aim at strengthening partnership with higher education institutions that adopt the French language as the language of instruction in several programs, which serves the process of research and education in the French language. He also pointed out that the scope of the Agency’s work is not limited to the French language, but rather goes beyond that to enhance research and academic cooperation between the Agency’s member universities in various fields such as technology, medicine, and literature.

The meeting was attended by the Dean of the Faculty of Arts at the University, Professor Mohammad Al-Anqara, the Assistant Dean for Quality Control Affairs, Dr. Mamoun Al-Shteiwi, and the Deputy Director of the Agency’s Regional Office, Cynthia Raad.
