The Vice President of Yarmouk University, Professor Samer Samarah, met with the Vice President of the Sultan Zainal Abidin University of Malaysia, Dr. Fadzli bin Adam, to discuss ways of enhancing existing cooperation between the two universities, especially in the fields of law, Sharia, Islamic studies, and Arabic language.

At the beginning of the meeting, Samarah stressed the strong relations between Yarmouk and various Malaysian educational institutions, stating that Yarmouk hosts 628 Malaysian students at various academic programs and levels. He reviewed the establishment of Yarmouk, its faculties, specializations and different academic degrees, and its tireless pursuit for achieving quality in all academic programs. He then pointed to Yarmouk’s readiness to receive students from Sultan Zainal Abidin University who wish to learn Arabic for non-native speakers at Yarmouk’s Language Center, which has recently restructured its study plans to include different levels that commensurate with the students’ linguistic abilities. Samarah also indicated that Yarmouk includes the Faculty of Sharia and Islamic Studies, which is one of the largest faculties of Sharia in Jordanian universities as it includes about 4,000 male and female students in the various specializations and levels offered by the Faculty.

In his turn, Bin Adam praised the distinguished scientific and academic reputation of Yarmouk University, acknowledging that it includes distinguished scientific competencies and annually graduates generations of students from different nationalities who have proven their worth and ability to hold leadership positions in various fields. He also reviewed the establishment of Sultan Zainal Abidin University in 2006, mentioning its health, scientific, and humanities faculties while pointing out the possibility of establishing some joint programs between the two universities in the specializations of law, Sharia and Islamic studies.
