Yarmouk University, through the Faculty of Archeology and Anthropology, recorded a distinguished academic achievement, according to the "QS" world ranking of universities, by reaching the rank of 201-240 at the level of world universities in the field of archaeology, and thus being the first at the level of Jordanian universities in this field. According to the same international ranking, Yarmouk University maintained the rank of 551-600 in the majors of the Faculty of Information Technology and Computer Science, for the second year in a row.
The "QS" classification of majors is based on five main criteria, which are the academic reputation of the major, the job reputation of graduates, the number of citations for research, the quality of published research, in addition to the extent of international cooperation in the field of scientific research.
The President of the University, Dr. Islam Massad, said that this distinguished progress comes in the context of the university's strategic plan for development and modernization in various fields, foremost of which is the academic quality, by paying attention to the study plans, updating and building on them, providing capabilities for researchers from the faculty members and students, and supporting scientific research publishing in the most prestigious scientific journals. He added that this achievement reflects YU’s vision of leadership and excellence in the fields of education, scientific research and community service.
It is noteworthy that the "QS" global classification is considered one of the international rankings of well-known universities of scientific standing in the world.
