For the second time in a row, the student chapter of the American Concrete Institute in the Department of Civil Engineering at Yarmouk University won the Excellent University Award in its 2022 activities, considering that the award is the highest acknowledgment offered by the American Concrete Institute to student chapters worldwide. Thus, getting the award reflects the outstanding efforts made by the student team in the field of student events and volunteer activities during 2022. Noteworthy is that the team has participated in the Big5 international exhibition in the United Arab Emirates where they participated in the workshops and scientific lectures that were held at the exhibition. The team has also participated in several workshops organized by the American Concrete Institute for university students around the world.
The Dean of Al-Hijjawi Faculty for Engineering Technology, Professor Mowaffaq Otoom, acknowledged the students’ distinguished efforts that resulted in winning such an international award emphasizing that the student chapter of the American Concrete Institute is one of the distinguished teams in the Faculty. He then noted that the Faculty administration constantly supports student activities and is interested in developing students' skills in all fields and increasing their participation in local, regional, and international events.
Dr. Faris Matalkah, the academic advisor of the team, said that winning the award was a result of the efforts exerted by the team throughout the year, as they participated in many events at the local, regional, and international levels. He added that the participation of students in such competitions enhances students' capabilities and increases their level to compete at the international level, which contributes to raising the University's status.
