Prof. Zeidan Kafafi, the President of Yarmouk University, met with a delegation from the French University of Nanterre, headed by Dr. Francois Villeneuve. The two sides discussed means of cooperation between the two parties, especially with respect to exchanging faculty members and students and conducting joint scientific research projects in different fields of archeology and anthropology.
During the meeting, Prof. Zeidan Kafafi stressed Yarmouk's keenness to strengthen its ties of scientific and academic cooperation with various international universities. He also expressed his hope for an official agreement between Yarmouk University and French Nanterre Paris to implement a project to documenting the archaeological artifacts at Yarmouk University and trying to gain support from the European Union. He pointed out that the preservation and documentation of the cultural heritage is a task that should be fully considered by various countries of the world.
He then added that the Faculty of Archeology and Anthropology at the University, in cooperation with a number of international universities, has sought to play its role in the use of scientific expertise and academic science in order to study, analyze, and interpret the history of civilization through archaeological excavations that are carried out in various regions of Jordan, which is rich in heritage sites. He stressed the University's keenness to prepare students and provide them with the necessary skills to perform their role in the protection and preservation of the cultural heritage in Jordan.
In his turn, Villenev praised the outstanding scientific reputation of Yarmouk University in the field of archeology at the international level. He also praised the distinguished teaching staff and their scientific activity in conducting scientific research in all fields of archeology and anthropology, pointing to the interest of the University of Nanterre Paris to cooperation with YU by conducting several projects and scientific research of common interest.
The meeting was attended by Dr. Hani Hayajneh, the Dean of the Faculty of Archeology and Anthropology, and Mukhlas Al-Ebbini, the Director of Public Relations and Media Department.
