Strategic Plan

3 President's speech Ever since I had the honor of being appointed as the president of Yarmouk University at the beginning of the academic year 2016/2015, strategic planning for the future of the university has been my top priority. From the very beginning, we started preparing a comprehensive strategy for the next five years with the motto of excellence, quality and internationalization. In addition, the motto promotes identifying the trend of the future work according to clear vision, mission and goals. Thus, the strategy becomes a basic reference to the university and its faculties, units and various centers in preparing annual plans and developing programs. Furthermore, the strategy organizes the university's efforts, capabilities and resources in order to achieve its strategic objectives. The preparation for the strategic plan of the university (2016-2020) started at the beginning of 2016 academic year. Since then, I have made sure that the plan responds to the responsibility of the university, and to the enormous challenges that encounter the university at the national and global levels. At the national level, Yarmouk University should strengthen its leadership role in front of Jordanian universities and respond to the requirements of national development. The strategy must also respond to the changes in the labor market and the economy and provide new resources; to integrate with government funding, as well as meet the requirements of accreditation and quality control in light of the large increase in the number of students. The university considers updating the academic programs, to suit the needs of the community and the labor market, and establishing business incubators as the priority for the next stage. Moreover, encouraging the academic members to adopt the modern educational techniques and methods in order to develop the student's creative thinking and research and develop their abilities to cope with the needs of the constantly and rapidly changing labor market is one of the strategic goals of the university. The aim of Yarmouk University is to make the student the main focus of the learning process and to participate in innovations of the community and jobs creation rather than being a consumer of them. To achieve these goals, a qualitative shift in educational programs and courses focusing on the development of skills and capabilities that meet the needs of the labor market is needed. In addition to that, encouraging students to become creative in order to contribute to the economic and scientific progress of their society. The plan also pays great attention to spreading out the culture of comprehensive quality in the university at both the academic and administrative levels.
