About the Conference

The Department of History and Civilization organizes The Third International Conference on Islamic History and Civilization titled "Economic Life in the Arab and Islamic World in the Period 1-14 AH/7-20 AD".

Conference Objectives:

  • Emphasizing the significance of economic life in the Islamic era to the present day.
  • Exploring key Arabic and non-Arabic sources that have studied the economic life in the Arab world.
  • Investigating the role of state institutions and administrations in shaping Islamic economic life in the Arab world.
  • Exploring the contributions of employees and the administrative apparatus in economic life and their impact on the Islamic state.
  • Shedding light on major non-Arab economic systems and their impact on the Islamic economic system.
  • Assessing the contributions of Orientalists in studying economic life in Islamic history and the modern era.
  • Investigating the significance of financial administration in the Islamic state, with a focus on resources and expenditures.
  • Exploring the impact of economic life in the Islamic state and its influence on political aspects.
  • Examining the effects of modern colonialism on the economies of Islamic countries.
  • Highlighting the influence of modern Western economic systems on the systems in Islamic countries.

Participation Instructions

  1. The paper must align with one of the conference topics.
  2. The paper must be submitted in Arabic or English, with an abstract in both Arabic and English.
  3. The paper should not exceed 25 pages in font size 14 (Simplified Arabic).
  4. Abstracts’ submission deadline is April 25, 2025.
  5. The final version of the paper must be submitted in Word format by June 15, 2025.
  6. The paper must not have been previously published or presented at any other conference or seminar.
  7. The research papers undergo an initial scientific peer review. Based on the results, accepted papers are approved for participation in the conference, and their authors are notified electronically.
  8. Accommodation will be provided for participants from July 24 to 25, 2025.

Conference registration fees:

$350 (for participants from outside Jordan)

$100 (for participants within Jordan).
